from two days listening to Tom Bandy speak about Thriving
Churches. You've found it to be "engaging, inspiring, puzzling,
American, disturbing and stretching". But what do you - and
those who attended with you - do now?"
The recent visit of Tom Bandy to Australia was left many
ministers and congregations asking questions about their "heartburst"
for mission. In his seminars, attended by over 1000 people,
Bandy encouraged people to join Christ on the road of mission to
the 'Gentiles'.
Highlighting the urgency of the call to mission, Bandy
invited churches not only to look outward, but to regenerate
their spiritual lives and reform their organisational life,
freeing people to be engaged in the wider community.
As a follow-up to the conference, the Uniting Church
Consultancies will be making available a range of resources to
assist congregations and leaders, as well as providing
opportunities for some face-to-face meetings. Here's a starter.
